History

T.G. Jayanth, the founder and Principal Consultant at Corvine has nearly 40 years of experience in capital projects. He started Corvine as an independent consulting practice after spending nearly 4 years as an Expert in Capital Projects with McKinsey’s Capital Projects & Infrastructure (CP&I) practice. During that time, he served more than 30 clients in a variety of industries (chemicals, power, pharma, food & agriculture, advanced manufacturing, retail, real-estate construction, engineering contracting, etc) with their capital project needs: optimizing their capital project portfolios, establishing Project Management Office (PMO)’s, implementing stage-gate processes, business case and project scope optimization processes, risk management processes, estimating and scheduling systems etc. T.G. has also advised private equity funds and other investors on their target investments, and mentored a number of construction-tech startups. T.G. keeps his finger on the pulse of technology for the construction industry and can help clients evaluate, select, and implement the right technology tools as they add a digital element to their business transformations.

Corvine Consulting will always put our clients’ interests first on all our engagements. To this end, we will call upon the best resources available from a broad network of partners for specific needs and areas of expertise. We will also work collaboratively with other consultants that our clients may wish to use.

Profile

Principal

T.G. Jayanth

Capital projects have been the common theme of T.G.’s career for its almost 40-year span. He has been a project director on very large (~$3B) LNG projects in Algeria for KBR, led a global network of engineering offices in the U.S., India, China, and Romania for Honeywell Process Solutions, and built a capital projects organization from the ground up at SunCoke Energy before joining McKinsey in 2016 as Expert in Capital Projects. He has deep experience in all phases of the project lifecycle - from concept, feasibility, definition, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up and operations, and can diagnose and solve issues in clients’ project development and execution processes expeditiously.

Career highlights:

- Delivered 20 -30% recurring savings on annual capital spend for McKinsey’s clients
 - As V-P of Capital Projects, built a highly effective project execution team from the ground up at SunCoke Energy.
 - Drove dramatic growth of Honeywell’s Global Eng Services organization’s business (42% over 2 years).
 - Negotiated innovative LNG contract agreement with Algeria’s national gas company for KBR.
 - Executed several LNG related projects in Skikda, Algeria for KBR

T.G. has worked in a variety of industries from oil & gas, chemicals, LNG, power, metals and mining, pulp & paper, and consulted with clients in a number of other industries. This broad experience means that he can understand your business and its strategic opportunities and challenges very quickly, and come up with ideas to improve your capital project performance that align with your business strategy.

Based on his experience, T.G. strongly believes that the success of a project (or a program) depends to a large extent on the effectiveness of the front-end development process. In fact, many companies approve projects that should never have been approved for execution. Small wonder that we have such a high number (80% or more of projects) that fail to meet their objectives!

T.G. specializes in helping you fine-tune your front-end process and improving that project success rate to the point where a failed project is the rare exception. In addition to project portfolio optimization, a robust stage-gate process, best-in-class estimating and scheduling systems, a rigorous business-case and scope optimization process, and an exceptional multi-phase risk management process, he will ensure often neglected areas such as your procurement and contracting support organizations, and your own (Owner’s) team have the right capabilities and tools to ensure a successful project outcome
